Port Maubert tient son nom du cours d’eau qui forme l’estey sur la Gironde sur lequel il est installé.
Peut-on calquer l’analyse étymologique sur celle de Tosti pour "Salabert" = Salaberht (sala = maison noble + berht = brillant) ?
On aurait alors "Maubert" = Mauberht ( mau = mal, mauvais + berht = brillant) ce qui signifierait "qui brille mal" pour un cours d’eau particulièrement boueux ...
